Is it too difficult in modern society to change your mind? Or too easy to simply adopt the mindset of those around you?
Bjørn Stærk went from being deeply religious to becoming a Christian-friendly atheist in his youth. He later became a right-wing populist blogger, but moved towards the political center. He was on the verge of becoming a climate skeptic, but is today involved in the Green Party. In this book, he explores the question "What does it mean to change your mind?" What triggers a change of mind in ourselves and others, how does the change occur, and can we become better at it?
Based on his own experiences, a diverse research literature and conversations with people such as Sidsel Wold, Paul Chaffey, Emil Erstad and his own father - who is a Christian conservative - Stærk takes the reader on a journey that challenges popular myths, such as that changing your mind is unusual or that people are too easily influenced. We think together with the groups we feel at home in, for better or for worse.
