Ingrid, daughter of King Erik, and her best friend Hedvig have sailed from Lofotr all the way to Constantinople to help Chung, the little stowaway, home. But when they arrive, nothing is as they expect. People hide when they arrive, and even the street vendors give the girls hostile looks.
