The School Librarians Association awards their Literature Prize to honour and encourage an author of Norwegian children’s and young adult literature.
Anneli has written, among other works, the popular series Tor and Mia, Line's World, and the books about Leona, who always ends up in trouble. She has also written many standalone books for children and young adults, as well as school textbooks and leveled fiction linked to educational curricula.
Jury’s Statement
Anneli Klepp made her debut as a children’s author in 2006, marking her 20th anniversary this year. Over these years, she has published more than 50 books for children and young adults, bringing joy to many young readers. Klepp has worked at all levels of primary and lower secondary school. This is clearly reflected in her books, as she has the ability to connect with readers at the exact right level, whether she is writing for the very youngest or for middle-graders. In doing so, she reaches a wide audience and helps foster a love of reading among many children and young people.
Line's world and the series featuring Leona, Tor, and Mia have a large readership. The books are exciting, humorous, and charming. Through engaging and heartwarming storytelling, the reader is drawn into narratives that present both major and minor challenges. Although these series are aimed at younger readers, Klepp addresses important themes—such as social exclusion, divorce, and falling in love—with wisdom and warmth.
In If you love me, Fred in a thousand pieces, and Project 360, Klepp writes for young adults. Writing for this age group is an art form, and Klepp has mastered it; her experience working with young people shines through in her writing style. While the themes in these young adult novels are weightier than those in her children's books, they are portrayed with humor, hope, and warmth.

Anneli Klepp is a teacher by training and has worked in primary and secondary school. She loves children and books and has, among others, written the popular series about Tor and Maria, Line’s World and Leona, who is always getting into trouble. She has also written many stand-alone books for children and young people.
The School Librarians Association's Literature Prize
The prize was established in 1982 and is awarded by the School Librarians Association in Norway to honour and encourage an author of Norwegian children's and young adult literature. It is awarded for an author's body of work as a whole or for specific parts of it. The prize consists of a diploma and a work by a Norwegian artist.
