Spouses Lucy and Martin go on one of their many camping trips to Dartmoor National Park in England. At night they experience an intense and inexplicable light phenomenon, which in different ways will affect both them and their relationship.
What actually happened? Can it be explained rationally, or did they experience something supernatural? And why do they have such different perceptions of the incident? Not least – why has the light phenomenon apparently made Martin acutely ill, with strange marks on his body?

Over the spring and summer, it is as if a sinister, paranormal infection spreads through both their relationship and their surroundings, where ordinary logic ceases and uncertainty and suspicion prevail. Flicker is a novel that operates on several levels, also beyond what can be rationally explained. The novel's mix of the paranormal, folk beliefs, body horror, and psychological realism draws the reader into a reality where the boundaries between the inner and the outer gradually break down.
