Overview Krakens gap

Fantasy. For ages 9–14 years. 300 pages.

It is early summer and very warm - unnaturally warm. But that in fact suits Espen and Eva rather well as they are going on a class trip along the coast in a fine old sailing ship.

The only fly in the ointment is that the fairies have put a curse on their friend Nils the Gnome. He is dying and can only be saved if Espen and Eva manage to get hold of the Sign of the Fairies, the key Edelåpne, again. The problem is that it has been thrown to the bottom of the sea.

But there are creatures in the sea that have other plans for the key. Far, far out in the depths, the enormous Kraken has woken up again. Soon Espen, Eva and the other pupils on the sailing ship are engaged in a fight between life and death, when the Kraken summons up his dark chaotic powers.

The Kraken's Jaws is the final book in the Sign of the Fairies trilogy. Mostue has created a fantastic world where ancient fairytale and folklore characters come to life again.

To date, the series has sold over 30 000 copies and won the Ark Children's Book Prize.

Previously published:
Alvetegnet 1: Gravbøygen våkner (2005) - The Sign of The Fairies 1: The Mystic Key
Alvetegnet 2: Nissedreperen (2006) - The Sign of The Fairies 2: Swarm of Rats

The trilogy has been optioned for film.

About Nissedreperen:
«You become immersed in the powerful imagery and eerieness. (…) Nissedreperen could compete - successfully - with any of the great international bestsellers in the fantasy genre.»

Stavanger Aftenblad

About Gravbøygen våkner:
«A great mix of horror and suspense - for young people and adults alike. It is not often you read a Norwegian novel for young people where the suspense is so intense that it explodes and crackles as much as this one. »

Reviews Krakens gap

Morten Haugen, Adresseavisen
