Overview Lørdager med mor og andre fortellinger

Saturdays with Mom and Other Stories is a continuation and expansion of the project that began with Cashiers I Have Loved and Other Stories in 2010. This time, several of the stories revolve around themes such as death and illness, growing up and ambitions, and relationships between parents and children through different stages of life.

In the title story, when Åshild is out in town with her mother, as is their Saturday morning custom, they meet one of the neighbor boys from her childhood, and memories from the years she spent a lot of time with the four boys in the house next door come flooding back. The narrator in "Remember the Pillow" joins his younger colleagues for a Friday beer to avoid going home to his sick wife. Thea wants to write a piano suite about the Norse gods, so she can name one of the movements after her classmate Loke. Daniel not only experiences his younger sister getting a boyfriend before him but also has to watch her get together with one of the boys who used to bully him in football and in junior high. But perhaps he himself is on the verge of making things work with Rebekka, who is a recurring character in the last three stories, where her life turns out completely different from what she had envisioned it would be. Saturdays with Mom offers melancholy tales from decisive everyday moments.
