"I can't shake the thought that there was nothing until the day I saw the girl with the wound, that that's when it all started..."
Seemingly by chance, the novel's narrator encounters a young woman with a fierce, dead wound on her face. He follows her, and thus becomes entangled in an investigation where past, present and imagination flow together. More and more clues lead the narrator towards a mysterious people-trafficking league that is mysteriously connected to his own history.
Sick Rose can be read as a guided tour through hell; it is an entertaining and bizarre tale that finds itself in a fascinating intersection between the thriller, the psychological novel, and the absurdist tradition.
