Two huldras try to steal Tyri’s medallion, a key which she has promised her father to protect with her life. Peter and Tyri realise something is happening and that they must hide the key. At the midnight market in the Royal Park they meet Bhurai, who tells them that the key protects the Floral, an ancient and intensely magical object. If the power of the Floral is let loose, it could have catastrophic consequences. Tyri and Peter must move down into the underground city as they chase the magical Floral.
The final book in this trilogy, The Swamp Queen, will be published in 2024.
Aleksander Kirkwood Brown is skilled at creating exciting and original stories, based mostly on fairytales and Norse folklore. Kirkwood Brown is original in the sense that he combines the vernacular folklore traditions with an urban, modern story and personal challenges which contemporary readers can recognise.
Luis Guaragna is a well-known and talented graphic novel illustrator with an international career. In The Underground City series he wishes to combine his own Italian-Argentinian background with the Norwegian world of fiction. Both his illustrations and characters are rich with traces of folkloric traditions – emphasising that the population of the Underground City is just as diverse as those of us who live above ground.

Tomine Barstad Solvang, EmpirixDe produktive tegneserieskaperne Aleksander Kirkwood Brown og Luis Guaragna har begge funnet godformen med «Underbyen» som nå omtales som en trilogi. «Underbyen 2: Nøkkelen» gjør akkurat det mellompartiet i en fantasytrilogi skal, den spisser konfliktene, utvider universet og pumper opp spenningen foran den store finalen.
Øyvind Holen, D2Magisk realisme er et litterært begrep, men med «Underbyen» kan man kanskje lansere et nytt begrep; realistisk magi. Brown og Guaragna klarer å gi liv til mennesker og overnaturlige vesener på en svært overbevisende måte.
