Sequel to Gudenes fall. As you might remember, it was with this novel that Cornelius Jakhelln won a major Nordic writing competition.
Verdenshavet picks up where Gudenes fall left off – quite literally. Many of us make reference to the ocean of space – but this is anything but normal. It is here that Odin makes a dubious deal with Snorre to write “a prologue to Heimskringla where he praises Odin... thereby ensuring his name will live on forever”.
The language here is not like what is standard today either. But it is not all like this – there are more standard parts. But as fantasy/sci-fi, it is first and foremost a human comedy, a distorting mirror that shows us ourselves.
Cornelius Jakhelln (1977–) made his début in 2001. He has a master degree in philosophy and plays black fokkin' shitmetal in the bands Solefald and Sturmgeist as well as synth-electro in G.U.T. He currently lives in Berlin.
