Kaja Kvernbakken (born 1982) was born in Bergen. Kvernbakken has worked as an editor and translator, is a former member of the editorial team of Utflukt magazine, and studied creative writing in Bø.

She lives in Oslo. The Smell of Chlorine is her fiction debut.
