Whitney or Britney? Yoko or Bono? Yelp or Yahoo? Jerry or George? Aaliyah or Ader?
This collection by Audun Mortensen has links - both thematically and conceptually - to two of cultures "young dead", the performance artist Bas Jan Ader (that disappeared when he tried to cross the Atlantic in a small sail boat) and the r´n´b-star Aaliyah (that was killed in a air plane crash in the Bahamas after the filming of the music video to the song "rock the boat").
"Aaliya is a strong collection of poetry, a languageskilled smartness with an obvious link to Mortensens acclaimed debut."
"Aaliyah has the same beautiful tone as the debut. It is a mix of sadness ond boredom, humour and playfulness ... Audun Mortensen removes himself from any hierarchy of high and low, paper and digital, writing and talking. In this way he is for sure a poet of his own time."
"Audun Mortensen quotes words and sentences that we have yet to recognize as a part of our every day language. ... The collection comes across as relevant, I might even say with a unique freshness."
